The renowned ChromeOS may be coming to Android, as Google recently demonstrated the experience to several corporate partners at an event. 

This showcase delivered the Google computer operating system to Android, its open-source smartphone operating system, suggesting that the Mountain View company has massive plans. 

Google's ChromeOS on Android Appeared in Recent Demo

A new report by Android Authority shared a recent private event at which Google demonstrated the ChromeOS on Android feature, showing how the computer experience was available to the smartphone OS. 

Running ChromeOS using the Android Virtualization Feature (AVF) made it possible, but it was reported that it only worked when the smartphone was hooked to an external display. 

Google said its AVF is dedicated to providing "secure and private execution environments for executing code." It is different from Android's app sandbox experience, which can run ChromeOS on the device.

Moreover, the report also claimed that there was a previous attempt before, but it used the Chromium OS to run on Android and exhibited it to manufacturers before.

ChromeOS on Android May Be Coming in The Future

This recent demo suggested that there might be a future where ChromeOS would run on Android and its powered smartphones soon, but there were no concrete dates and details behind this yet. 

It was reported that the goal is to deliver a desktop-esque experience to the Android smartphone, with various requests from users wanting ChromeOS to run on the smartphone before. 

Leaks or the company have yet to reveal the specifics behind this ChromeOS integration with Android, but this already provides a gateway to a future with Android getting a computer experience on smartphones.

ChromeOS for Computers, Androids for Phones

For many years, the world has seen iterations of the Chromebooks appear, and these computers are part of Google's partnership with various tech companies to deliver a different experience powered by ChromeOS.

Previously, it was touted that Google is planning to deliver a gaming Chromebook to the world, with Lenovo's IdeaPad 5 being the first capable of this process. 

That being said, it has always been separate from the Android operating system despite sharing various similarities, especially with the company's renowned Material You redesign.

Its renowned rival, Apple, is also known for having separate operating systems for its iPhone and Mac, namely iOS and macOS, which serve their purposes. 

However, Google's recent demonstration suggests a lot about its plans for ChromeOS and Android. While it seems that neither will replace the other as the main OS, an integration will bring massive features available.

ChromeOS on Android is now a real thing, as Google reportedly demonstrated it, and the public may see this, but the details and timeline are still hazy and unconfirmed.
