PlayStation 4 Tops November Console Sales As ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3’ Beats ‘Fallout 4’ As Bestselling Game
PlayStation 4 has nabbed the top spot as the best-selling gaming console in the U.S., while Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been deemed as the nation's top-selling game for the month of November.
Prior to the release of the official NPD Group report, Sony announced that PS4 took the title from October's list topper -- the Xbox One.
Sony touted in a statement that PlayStation recorded its "strongest" Black Friday since its inception. The company, though, has yet to reveal the official numbers. Furthermore, Microsoft divulged last week that its console also generated a huge sale during the Black Friday 2015.
The two gaming consoles were marketed for $300 during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Eric Lempel, senior vice president and the head of marketing at Sony Computer Entertainment America, said that the month of November was considered the "biggest month ever for PlayStation Store indicating a strong digital marketplace complementing healthy retail sales."
Microsoft likewise boasted that it also deems November as the most significant month on its record, which set new records for game and console sales and Xbox Live engagement. The Redmond-based company revealed that its retail game sales covering August to November this year rose 72 percent as compared to similar period in 2014. The total Xbox Live usership hours also went up 44 percent if compared to the figure last year.
On Dec. 10, the NPD group released its monthly sales report for the month of November. Based on its record, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beat Fallout 4 as the best selling game in the U.S. Star Wars Battlefront got the third spot.
Here is a rundown of top 10 bestselling physical games in the U.S. for November:
1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
2. Fallout 4
3. Star Wars Battlefront
4. Madden NFL 16
5. NBA 2K16
6. FIFA 16
7. Need for Speed

What is interesting, though, is that the top-selling game sold way better on Microsoft's console than any other platform.
NPD analyst Liam Callahan believes that November was the "best month ever in total unit sales."
