Apple's newly released Beats Pill+ app signifies the first time that the company came up with an app that works simultaneously on both the iOS and Android platforms.

The new app will allow users to manipulate and share settings using up to two speakers. This include being able to control software-focused features such as a DJ mode and stereo sound.

Likewise, users can opt to get an amplified mono sound from pairing up two speaker units or they can choose to distribute the sound source and make it flow through the left and right channels.

Another notable feature is the ability of the speaker system to accept up to two Bluetooth sources which allows the user to easily share playlist manipulation with a friend.

"The Beats Pill+ app gives you the power to share your playlist in new social ways, such as adding a friend to share DJ duties," said Apple.

The Beats Pill+ app is so far the second app that Apple has released for Android following the release of the Move to iOS app earlier in 2015. The company plans to launch more Android apps in the future and has confirmed that one of them will be an Apple Music app.

The release of the new app comes in the same month that Apple debuted the Beats Pill+ speaker which occurred early in October. The new design, which is sleek yet larger, is reminiscent of the devices made by Apple. In its latest model, the company has replaced the speaker's USB with its proprietary Lightning cable in order to charge the device.

"Beats Pill+ is designed to go wherever you do and fill the room with a rich clear sound field that has as much power as it does definition," added Apple. "With a sleek interface, the Beats Pill+ is intuitive to use and brings people together with engaging features for a unique shared listening experience. With its sophisticated design, Beats Pill+ looks as good as it sounds. The simple, intuitive interface is no nonsense so you can get to your music fast."

The Beats Pill+ speaker is now available at the Apple Online Store at $229. Users can choose to have it either in black or white.

The Beats Pill+ app can now be downloaded free from the App Store for iOS users and from Google Play for those who own an Android device.
