Just in time for Halloween, AMC made the not-at-all surprising announcement of the renewal of the hit show "The Walking Dead" for a seventh season set to be aired in October 2016. Also renewed is "The Talking Dead," the aftershow hosted by Chris Hardwick.

The announcement was made on Oct. 31, and it really wasn't a surprise to anybody especially since the show starring Andrew Lincoln has been raking constantly high ratings and remains to be the number one show on television in the all-important 18 to 49 year old demographic and with last Oct. 25's episode garnering a whopping 18.2 million viewers.

The latest episode threw the character Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) into the spotlight as he is dumped in quite a difficult situation where he ends up trapped in an alleyway surrounded by walkers. As a character who has been in the journey with Rick (Andrew Lincoln) since season one, fans of the show immediately took to twitter and other social media sites to express their indignation at the possible death of the character, while others assured their co-fans that Glenn couldn't possibly be dead as a farewell to the beloved character was not seen in "The Talking Dead," as is the case for most fatalities in the show.

With the news of the renewal, fans of the show are in for another season to join Rick as he protects his family, and now the town Alexandria, from the dangers of the post-apocalyptic world from both the dead and the living.

"We are so proud to share these shows with fans who have been so passionate, communicative and engaged. We are grateful for and continually impressed by the talent, effort and excellence on continuous display by Robert Kirkman, Scott Gimple, Chris Hardwick and the many people with whom we partner to make these unique shows possible. The result: More Walking and Talking. Hooray," AMC president Charlie Collier said in a prepared statement.
