October will be an interesting month with several big guns like Apple, Nokia and Google gearing up to launch new devices within days of each other.

We take a look at what the trio have in store for us as they vie for the media's attention.

Nokia

Come Tuesday, October 22, Nokia and Apple are ready to lock horns as both have events scheduled on the same day.

Nokia is hosting its Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi, where the Finnish company is expected to release it's first-ever phablet (Lumia 1520 or Bandit), a tablet (Lumia 2520 or Sirius) and four other new devices.

A teaser image released by Nokia shows off three devices - a tablet, phablet and a laptop - and the tagline accompanying the photo reads "Nokia World is on October 22, 2013. Watch the action on your screen of choice."

The phablet could well be the rumored Lumia 1520, whereas the tablet in the teaser, the Lumia 2520. The laptop seen in the teaser could be a Microsoft-branded product about which not much is known.

In addition to these devices, Nokia is also speculated to release the "Guru" a NFC-enabled music device (maybe MP3?), which will be along the lines of Apple's iPod shuffle.

"iPod shuffle + NFC = Nokia Guru," per @evleaks' tweet.

The four other Nokia devices rumored to launch may include the Lumia 525 (first Windows RT tablet), the Lumia 525 (successor of the Lumia 520), the Asha 502 and Asha 503 (succesots of the Asha 501). Nokia is also speculated to launch the Treasure Tag accessory.

Recently, rumors pertaining to a mid-range Nokia smartphone dubbed the "Batman" or Lumia 1320 have also been rife. The smartphone is expected to tout a large display and be priced in the same bracket as the Lumia 625. October 22 could see the Lumia 1320 also make an appearance.

Reports have also claimed that Nokia and Microsoft will reveal the details for the WP8 GDR3 update and the "Bittersweet shimmer" firmware at the event in Abu Dhabi.

Apple

Apple too is slated to host a press event on Tuesday, October 22, where it has "a lot to cover" per the invite.

Conjectures point to the launch of OS X Mavericks, new MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPad mini 2 and the iPad 5. The much-rumored Apple TV is also expected to make an appearance at the event in San Francisco.

Apple is also expected to release a new Smart Cover if one is to read between the lines of the invite.

Google

Google has sent out an invite for a press event that is slated to be held in New York on Thursday, October 24.

So what can we expect? Speculations are rife that Google will finally launch the successor to the Nexus 4 smartphone, the Nexus 5, at the event along with the much-awaited Android 4.4 KitKat OS (which is expected to come pre-loaded on the smartphone).

However, based on the invite it seems that Google's event will focus on the Google Play store instead, as the invite reads "Join us for a night out with Google Play. Music, movies, games, and a special performance by Capital Cities."

Per rumors, the Nexus 5 is conjectured to feature a 5-inch 1080p FHD display. The smartphone is expected to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz and 2GB of RAM. It will likely tout a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera as well.

Whether a refresh of the Google Play store is in order or the 5-inch Nexus 5 makes an appearance with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, remains to be seen.
