An app called Galaxy View Remote can turn any Android smartphone into a Samsung Galaxy View remote control.

Samsung launched its biggest Android tablet - the Galaxy View - in October this year and it will hit the shelves on Nov. 20. The tablet has an 18.4-inch display that offers a great video-watching experience.

"At Samsung, we are committed to creating new possibilities and bringing our consumers the best mobile experience," says JK Shin, CEO and Head of Samsung's IT & Mobile Business. "We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment."

Many users may take benefit of the large screen and use it to watch movies with friends and family in the comfort of their living room. The Galaxy View does not come with a remote control but Android phone users can download the Galaxy View Remote to easily access the tablet.

The remote control app allows users to control nearly everything on the Samsung tablet. The app utilizes Bluetooth to connect to the Galaxy View.

The app is somewhat similar to the Android TV remote and includes some similar features. It has directional controls, power and volume buttons and an "OK" button for confirming selections. However, the app has to control the Galaxy View and it also comes with a touchpad that corresponds to a cursor on the tablet's screen. Users of the app will also have the ability to insert text in Galaxy View via the Galaxy View Remote app.

The application is currently available only for smartphones and not for tablets. Even though the app has been developed by Samsung, it is not limited to Samsung smartphones only. The app can be downloaded and used on any Android device running Android 4.4 KitKat or above.

The app has been developed by Samsung and is available as a free download from the Google Play Store. The Galaxy View Remote app weighs just 7.4 MB.
