Here's another way to stay charged up at all times — with your belt.

A smart belt called The Ion Belt vows to keep your smartphone — or any other electronic device, which uses a USB connection — charged on the go with its built-in batteries, USB pin and port. The piece of wearable tech has raised $40,320 toward its goal of $50,000 with 17 days left of its Kickstarter campaign. A pledge of $89 will put one Ion Belt around your waist — available in small, medium and large sizes.

The way the belt works is simple. Part of the buckle has a built-in recharging USB pin connector, which could be charged with your computer or in a wall socket. The end of the belt has a USB port for all your devices, whether it's a smartphone, tablet, or camera. Near the belt's loop are embedded battery indicator lights.

The belt is powered by its trademarked Encapsulpak technology, providing two layers of steel sheeting between batteries to protect them from damage, while being compact enough to maintain a belt's sleek look.

The output is 3000 mAh of hidden power, which the mind behind The Ion Belt says is equal to 1.5+ charges of an iPhone 6.

And about that mind, the person behind The Ion Belt is Aaron Krause, who people may recall is the founder of the Scrub Daddy sponge, which ranks as the top-grossing product from ABC's Shark Tank. So, he kind of has a hand in inventing products we can all use.

For what it's worth, the belt actually looks pretty nice, too, avoiding the bulkiness you think would be associated with a product like this.
