While China-based smartphone maker Vivo took the wraps off its flagship X6 and X6 Plus phablets with much pomp, the OEM quietly launched a third smartphone at its event - the Y51.

On Monday, Nov. 30, keeping to its promise, Vivo introduced a slew of Android-powered smartphones but while it highlighted its flagship models, the OEM chose to lay low about its 5-inch Y51 smartphone, possibly to not take the sheen of the X6 and X6 Plus.

Vivo launched the Y51 and Y51L and while the former has now been listed on the smartphone maker's website, the latter is still missing. The Y51 smartphone - along with the Y51L - got approval by Chinese regulatory body TENAA a few days earlier

Both the Y51 and the Y51L have the same features apart from the Android version per the TENAA approval. The Y51 would sport Android 5.0 Lollipop whereas the Y51L would pack in Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. However, per the Vivo listing on its site, the Y51 comes with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The Vivo Y51 is expected to be a budget-friendly smartphone as indicated by its not-so-impressive and pretty outdated specs. The smartphone sports a 5-inch qHD screen with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. The smartphone weighs 157gms and measures 143.8x71.7x7.52mm.

Under the hood, the Vivo Y51 houses a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, which is clocked at 1.2GHz. The smartphone has 2GB of RAM and supports 16GB of on-board storage, which can be expanded to a maximum of 128GB via a microSD card.

The Y51 also has an 8MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie snapper with HDR, autofocus, child mode, night mode and panorama shooting.

The Vivo smartphone also has a 2350 mAh battery and offers support for dual-SIM, LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, FM radio and GPS. It also includes Infrared support.

The Vivo Y51 is listed in the white hue on the company's website. It is not known when the handset will hit the shelves and in what regions, as well as what its price point will be.
