Google rolled out an update for the iOS Google app, adding support for 3D Touch, iPad multitasking and holiday hours in local search results.

What's interesting about this development is that two of the three features are not available to Android users, as the company focused on Apple-centric functions this time.

With that said, Google isn't exactly prioritizing iOS over Android. As one of the most capable companies to add 3D Touch support to its apps, the Mountain View-based firm is simply dishing out a functionality that's compatible with one of the biggest features that the iPhone 6s came with.

Without further ado, here are the notable changes on the Google app:

Holiday Hours in Search Results

The local search results now yield holiday hours and information about the busiest times of the day so that users become aware of where the big crowds and long lines are when going out for a little Christmas shopping

3D Touch Support

3D Touch support has been added in for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, where users will be able to hard press on the Google app icon to bring up a set of shortcuts: Search, Image Search and Voice Search.

iPad Multitasking Support

Lastly, support for iPad multitasking has been included, allowing users to take advantage of the Split View and Slide Over features on the tablet. Users will now be able to use the Google app while using another app.

This latest update is big news for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and iPad users. The number of apps with 3D Touch support has yet to grow, so this update opens up another opportunity to use the feature. Also, the iPad multitasking support is solid because it lets users be more productive.

And of course, just in time for the holiday shopping season, the info about the busiest times of local businesses allows users to gain the edge over other shoppers – those who don't use the feature, that is.
