Amazon silently wiped out Swagway hoverboards from its site.

The action the e-commerce site has taken came hot on the heels of hoverboard-related fires occurred in nine states which made headlines in the previous weeks, for instance, in a home in Chappaqua, New York.

The pulling of Swagway from Amazon was initially spotted by Mashable, which eventually contacted the company about the matter.

Amazon told Mashable thru an e-mail that it sent out a notification to hoverboard vendors. Amazon requires Swagway to "provide documentation demonstrating that all hoverboards you list are compliant with applicable safety standards, including UN 38.3 (battery), UL 1642 (battery) and UL 60950-1 (charger)."

The company highlighted that it already met all the needed certifications. It added in that it is delighted that Amazon has taken steps to take "low quality boards" out of its site.

"As safety is always on the forefront for Swagway, we're glad that this is taking place, especially in light of recent concerns with the fires with the poor quality batteries," explained Swagway.

It went on to say that it is focusing on creating measures to assist its customers in spotting which of the hoverboards in the market are genuine products of Swagway and which of these are just sham.

It likewise directed purchasers to only buy from official sellers of the brand.

Though Swagway's products have been barred from the site, consumers can still pick from other hoverboard brands listed on the site, such as Jetson, Razor Hovertrax and Hover X.

While the brand name can still be spotted on the Amazon website's side search field, running a Swagway product search already yields no results. Furthermore, Amazon links posted by the company on its Facebook account are no longer working.

Major airlines have also announced that they are going to prohibit hoverboards from flights due to incidents associated with the products.

In the meantime, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission is presently carrying out an investigation on the matter.

Not much is known yet why Amazon srubbed off the products on its list. The giant e-commerce site has yet to release its official word.
