Polish experts from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow said on Tuesday, December 15 that there is no Nazi train filled with gold and other treasures near Walbrzych in southwestern Poland.

The investigators said a tunnel may possibly be present but a train? No.

A local folklore dating 70 years back said that the Nazis hid a train in a tunnel in the midst of fleeing the Red Army in 1945. Originally, the location was part of Germany but when the war ended, it became a territory of Poland.

In August 2015, two hunters by the name of Piotr Koper and Andreas Richter said they found the glorious train in a secret tunnel that is housed in Walbrzych hills.

They even presented an evidence from the deathbed of a German, who saw the train being hidden.

Koper said they used ground penetrating radar (GPR). Through this, it was confirmed that there is indeed a tunnel measuring 19 feet in width and 29 feet in height, and perhaps, a train.

In November 2015, Krakow researchers headed by Janusz Madej examined the area, this time using magnetic and gravitation devices. They concluded, however, that there is no train.

The contrasting results of the two research groups may be attributed to the way the hunters utilized the GPR system,Krakow experts said.

Train or no train, the legend, hearsays and discussions about the Nazi gold train look as if it is destined to persist. The attention that the story garnered urged many people to realize that there may indeed be numerous tunnels and chambers hidden in the hills. The reason of the Germans to build such structures continues to be an unsolved puzzle.

The local government is now left with the decision to do what they deem is necessary for the hills of Walbrzych.

"Right now we have to analyze the reports very carefully because we have seen only presentations," said Arkadiusz Grudzien, the city's spokesperson. "After checking the reports we'll decide with our [mayor] what will be our next step."
