There is a high chance that GoPro cameras made their way under Christmas trees recently, and for those who received an action camera, here are some of the best accessories for your new gizmo.

Whether it's a mount, a case or a GoPro "selfie stick," each accessory improves the experience users get from the already captivating video-recording device.

Mounts

Seeing how waterproofing is important for action camera owners, it was only a matter of time before manufacturers addressed the GoPro underwater enthusiasts.

It works like this: the GoPro simply mounts on the special diving mask, giving you access to instant hands-free POV filming. GoPro connects to the top of the mask, and you can tinker with its pressure valves for added comfort. The goggles are not just comfortable, but sturdy as well.

The conscious user can even fit them with prescription lenses if need be. Octomask only costs $80 and also makes a great accessory for Halloween parties.

For general and moderately professional purposes, GoPro can be upgraded with gimbals. Take G4 for GoPro, for example.

"The Feiyu G4 Handheld Gimbal incorporates state-of-the-art 3 axis stabilization technology into a finely constructed body," manufacturing company Feiyu Tech says.

This means that you can almost completely eliminate the in-hand effect when filming in motion. The Feiyu G4 offers a high quality level for videos that require stabilized footage.

Users who have had enough of POV shots from GoPro and want something extra might want to take a look at the 3rd Person View camera mount. Manufactured by Sail Video System, the mount fixes on a think belt (think heavy-lifter style) and records videos from slightly behind the wearer.

The pole offers numerous degrees of angles and positions for your GoPro, adding very interesting perspectives to your sportive deeds.

Sticks

One novel way to use your GoPro is by using the s0-called selfie sticks that have taken over the mobile market.

One such device is the GoScope. Its arm, manufactured in a temperature controlled environment out of Aluminum and ABS plastic, is as resistant as it is lightweight. One great plus for the GoScope is that it allows dual-mounting, so that you can get POV and reaction shots at the same time.

The stick, which can extend from 17.5 to 40 inches, is guaranteed to resist even harsh conditions such as oceanic water and snow. For $55, it provides a lot of options for adventure seekers.

The ultimate selfie stick for your action-camera is nothing less than a drone. Meet the DJI Phantom, who will take your GoPro in the air for stunning video footage.

Cases

After spending your savings on an action camera, the next investment is case for your gadget. Enter Casey, a semi-rigid, water-resistant shell that protects against the elements while its padded, flexible interior allows you to organize your camera and accessories after your liking. Small enough to pack into a backpack, the GoPro manufactured case has the capacity to carry all your adventure-recording equipment.

However, there are alternatives to the protective case from GoPro.

For example, the HPRC Light Piccolo is a magnetically-secured semi-rigid case which has tailored cutouts fit for GoPro Hero 3, Hero 3+ or Hero 4 cameras, and their respective accessories. For a number of bespoke shapes there are cubed foam versions, as well as removable transparent pouches if you just feel like stuffing things in without regard to order.

The more organized action footage cameramen might prefer the POV60, as it has dedicated slots for a consistent collection of GoPro accessories and cameras. But what do you get for the $149 price tag?

Four cameras fit neatly into the case, alongside a charger, remotes, batteries, cables, nuts and bolts. It comes without saying that the POV60 is water-proof, and its steel hinges and two-stage locks make sure you open it only when you mean to.

Manufacturer UKPro says it guarantees safety in case of a 7 feet (2 meters) fall onto concrete.
