With consecutive releases in 2015, Xiaomi is in it again. The company has officially introduced its newest flagship product, the Redmi 3 with a whopping 4,100 mAh battery, which is twice as much as what its predecessor Redmi 2 has.

Additional teasers of specs were released to trigger excitement among users as Xiaomi confirmed that the Redmi 3 will be launched on Jan.12.

The newest smartphone will join the company's affordable product portfolio. Powered by a robust battery and 5-inch display, the phone comes in a slim metal body thanks to high-energy density tech used in the device.

Aside from a metal body which was the trend set by the Redmi Note 3, it is speculated to have an etched plaid pattern at the back based on the teaser photo posted by Xiaomi on its Weibo account. The textured finish on the rear panel is something new as it joins in the trends in smartphone body designs initiated by large tech companies in recent years.

With the doubled power of the battery, it will easily get you through at least two days on a single charge given the rumored specs of the phone. In comparison with other smartphones in the market, its battery power is large for its specs and it isn't a big phone.

Released in the end of 2015, its larger sibling, the Redmi Note 3, has a 4,000 mAh battery for its 5.5-inch display and 3 GB of RAM. The Redmi 3, on the other hand, is smaller and has lower specs, so moderate users may expect its battery life to last longer.

Though the complete specs were not yet confirmed, rumor says that the Redmi 3 is powered by a Snapdragon 616 SoC, 2 GB of RAM and offers 16 GB of internal memory. Just like recent releases, the device features a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel front camera. It's also speculated to have an octa-core 1.5 GHz processor running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Xiaomi's usual MIUI software interface on top.

Its predecessors, the Redmi 2 and the Redmi 2 Prime, were not as good compared to the new Redmi 3's specs. This is a major improvement over the past two handsets. The Redmi 2 Prime comes with only a 4.7-inch display, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of memory, 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 chipset, 8-megapixel primary camera, 2-megapixel front camera and just 2,200 mAh battery. Hopefully, the new smartphone will come with an expandable memory unlike the already released Xiaomi handsets.

Xiaomi is yet to confirm the truth behind the leaked specs during its official release, so users should contain their hype and wait for a few days before the launch date.
