HTC is now expected to launch its 2016 flagship smartphone, the HTC One M10, at a press event in March. A new report claims the handset will ship with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor or MediaTek chip depending on region.

There was a period when HTC was the top-selling Android smartphone maker, but Samsung began to chip away and eventually took the title. HTC knew it had to differentiate itself from Samsung and other Android smartphone makers, and that plan came to fruition when it revealed the HTC One M7 in February 2013. The company decided to focus on unique hardware and software features for its flagship device, and those efforts paid off as the One M7 received rave reviews and was named "Best New Mobile Device" at Mobile World Congress 2013.

Much of the HTC One M7's success was due to the smartphone's unibody aluminum design, which at the time was a rarity from any smartphone maker besides Apple. HTC continued this design philosophy with the One M7's successor, the HTC One M8 released in 2014, and didn't veer from this recipe with 2015's flagship HTC One M9. While the HTC One M9 was largely viewed as a disappointment, the company is gearing up to attempt another comeback with the HTC One M10, codenamed "Perfume."

Unlike Samsung and LG which are expected to announce the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge and LG G5 at MWC 2016 in February, HTC will reportedly announce the One M10 at a press event in March. A new report claims the company will release two variants: one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and the other with a MediaTek chip.

According to LlabTooFeR, who has a pretty good track record with HTC predictions, U.S. and European markets will get the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 based HTC One M10, while China and Southeast Asia will receive the MediaTek variant. The smartphone will also ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and HTC Sense 8.0 out of the box.

We'll keep you posted on any new HTC One M10 news as it becomes available.
