Dropbox has announced a new app designed especially for Windows 10 tablets and PCs.

Dropbox is a cloud storage service that gives users easy access to files such as documents, photos and videos. With Dropbox, users can share files from a number of devices such as PCs, tablets and more.

According to Dropbox, the new Windows 10 app for tablets and PCs will bring a number of improved features for enhanced searching, storing and sharing.

"Microsoft is excited to partner with Dropbox to bring more cloud storage and productivity services to Windows 10 across PC and tablets. With the arrival of Dropbox, Windows 10 fans have easy and convenient access to photos, documents, and files anytime, anywhere," says Steve Guggenheimer, Corporate VP of Developer Platform and Evangelism and Chief Evangelist at Microsoft.

With the new Dropbox Windows 10 app, users will be able to drag and drop files directly from the Windows File Explorer window into the Dropbox app. This feature accelerates the storing process. It also allows easy sharing between folders within those windows.

The Quick Search feature of the new app will allow users to search files quicker. Users will just have to start typing without clicking the search icon.

Setting up interactive notifications for accepting shared folders invitations can be accomplished without opening the Dropbox app.

Fingerprint scanner is becoming a commonplace in the technology industry. Many smartphones and tablets are equipped with fingerprint sensors or scanners that can quickly unlock devices and authorize online payments without using a passcode or a password.

The new Dropbox Windows 10 app will allow users to customize the app so it can be unlocked by a fingerprint, iris or face scan.

The latest app will also allow users to quickly access recently opened files using the new Jump List feature. Users will just have to right-click the Dropbox app icon in their taskbar for quickly opening files.

Dropbox already has a Windows app and it works fine with Windows 10 operating system. A Dropbox spokesperson says that the older version will be upgraded to the new version.

"That older app doesn't leverage the full features of Windows 10 or Dropbox though," says the Dropbox spokesperson.

According to Dropbox, the new Windows 10 app for tablets and PCs will be available soon from the Windows Store for free.

Although the new Windows 10 app will work for PCs and tablets, support for smartphones has not been announced by Dropbox or Microsoft, which means mobile phone customers will have to wait slightly longer.
