Ever since the third game in the series, Halo fans have been building some impressive levels. While the series' Forge Mode may have started off as a simple level editor - players couldn't build their own environments, only edit those that the developers included - it's become something far more over the years. It's not just switching weapons and vehicles around anymore - and it was only a matter of time before the fans started creating some truly amazing stages.

Of course, it just wouldn't be Forge without artwork. While most fans try to build the best multiplayer stage, there are plenty of players who just want to hop into the game and build something entirely different. Now, roughly a month after Forge was introduced into Halo 5: Guardians, fans can get their first glimpse at what the editor can really do.

And the first batch of artwork is already impressive. One user, going by the name Bearskopff, is basically a Forge savant: it wasn't enough to simply build and AT-AT or a goomba - so he went and built entire levels from Super Mario 64 and Star Wars: Battlefront inside of Halo 5:

Seeing Princess Peach's castle on its own might not sound like much, but the fact that it's running in a Halo game is just surreal. Not only that, but it's a pretty faithful recreation: sure, some of the finer details are missing and it's a bit smaller than usual, but that's only because Bearskopff ran out of materials to worth with. Halo 5's Forge mode has a limit of 1024 objects in a single map - Princess Peach's castle uses 1023. Otherwise, the attention to detail is astounding - even the trees look like those found in the Nintendo 64 classic.

And Peach's Castle is just the start: Bearskopff also built the opening heliport from Metal Gear Solid in stunning detail:

As well as the snowy battlefield of Hoth from The Empire Strikes Back:

There's even a Halo version of the Millennium Falcon:

Oh, and the best part? They're all playable in Halo 5: just search for the gamertag 'Bearskopff' and the maps should appear. As for any future works, Bearskopff definitely has something up his sleeve...he's just not telling anyone yet. From his reply on Reddit:

"Got a few ideas floating around for maps at the moment. Now I just need to find some more time."
