A remastered version of the 2008 tactical role-playing game Valkyria Chronicles - aptly titled Valkyria Chronicles Remastered - for PlayStation 4 was announced previously, but only for Japan. Folks weren’t entirely sure it’d see a release in the West, as Valkyria Chronicles III never made the jump. But today Sega announced that the remaster is indeed coming to North America!

Here’s how Sega describes Valkyria Chronicles:

In the world of Valkyria Chronicles, the year is 1935 E.C., and the continent of Europa has been plunged into the Second Europan War between the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance -- also known as The Empire -- and the Atlantic Federation over the precious resource Ragnite. The Empire is sweeping through the continent like an unchecked wildfire and has its eyes set on the rich Ragnite deposits of the Principality of Gallia. Although peaceful Gallia remains neutral in the conflict, its citizens will need to defend home and country against the inevitable invasion. Players follow Lieutenant Welkin Gunther and the vaunted Squad 7 of the Gallian Militia as they take on the seemingly insurmountable forces of the Empire.

The PS4 remaster is likely to follow in the footsteps of the PC port. Included in the new package is HD graphics, trophy support, and all the previous DLC released for the game back when including a new difficulty for diehard fans. So, no new content exactly, but a whole lot of good stuff from year’s past on a new console.

There’s also a new game, Valkyria: Azure Revolution, set to release later this year in Japan that takes the franchise in a slightly different direction than the early 20th century vibe seen in previous games. Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is set for a spring 2016 release on PlayStation 4.
