Hulu has announced that it now has exclusive streaming rights to future IFC documentaries, Sundance Selects and IFC Midnight Documentary Films in the window following theatrical releases.

What this basically means is that Hulu will be the online home to IFC's future documentaries starting in the fall.

The documentaries will be available as part of Hulu's Limited Commercial and No Commercial plans starting in the fall, with the first documentary available on the service set to be King Georges, a movie that depicts the life of Georges Perrier, owner of a fancy French restaurant called Le Bec-Fin. The documentary will be in theaters starting on Feb. 26, and will then be available on Hulu a few months later.

After that, films such as City of Gold, about Jonathan Gold, a food critic, and Weiner, about New York City congressman Anthony Weiner, will be available. Weiner, however, will be available on Showtime, which is a Hulu add-on, for the 15 months after its theatrical release before it moves to Hulu.

Hulu has been ramping up its efforts to gain exclusive content a lot over the past year, especially with the likes of Amazon and Netflix creating their own very popular exclusive content. Hulu also recently announced that it was the exclusive streaming home for Seinfeld reruns.
