It's a brand new year, so it's a brand new Jolla. Kind of.

Jolla, a Finnish mobile maker that branched out of Nokia, is getting its groove back after facing some financial troubles midway through 2015.

This month, the company finally started sending out its crowdfunded Jolla tablets equipped with its open-sourced Sailfish OS 2.0. Unfortunately, not everyone who supported the project will be receiving a tablet.

"We are happy to say that we will be shipping an additional small batch of the Jolla Tablet to early backers during early 2016, targeting to send invitations during January," announced Jolla in a New Year's post. Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better from there.

Even though the company seems to be slowly digging itself out of an unexpected financial setback, it won't be able to fulfill production orders for everyone who contributed to its Indiegogo project.

Marketed as the "world's first crowdsourced tablet", the Jolla Tablet now joins the ranks of failed crowdsourced projects that just weren't able to fulfill their grand vision of the future.

"The bad news here is that we are not able to complete the production to fulfill all contributions. In other words, all of our backers will not get a Jolla Tablet," the company said.

The company previously promised backers they would not be going empty-handed. The company is keeping that promise by offering refunds to those who will not be getting what they paid for.

In Jolla's most recent post providing "closure" for the whole Jolla Tablet debacle, Jolla co-founder Antti Saarnio shares that as they ship the last 540 tablet units in February, they will also begin refunding contributions, including the cost of shipping and accessories.

The refund process will take place in two phases over the course of the year. One half of the refunds will be completed in the first quarter while the last half within the year thereafter, Jolla's financial situation permitting, of course.

For those backers who still believe in Jolla and wish to continue to support its open-sourced Sailfish operating system, they can simply back out of the refund by not replying to Jolla's email on the refund application process when they receive it.
