Hardcore fans might be delighted to know that Sony's hottest new smartphones, the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact, have already hit the United States market, as promised. They are now readily available for sale, in unlocked form, via Amazon and other stores.
Sony's new smartphones, which were unveiled late last year, have been available in other parts of the globe for the last few months prior to their arrival in the country.
Customers can usually buy these phones through the company's official store in the United States. Clicking the buy button at the website, though, will lead them to Amazon's listing pages for these devices. That said, it is possible that Sony decided to sell the phones via Amazon, rather than selling them directly through its own website.
However, don't get your hopes up, as there's a catch when buying these phones – unlike the versions of these phone that you'd get from other markets, neither of these models for the United States comes fitted with a fingerprint sensor tucked into each of its power buttons.
There's no denying that the fingerprint sensor is arguably among the biggest new features that Sony added into these models to compete with rival flagships. Much like other devices, one could unlock these phones through the fingerprint sensor. On top of that, the sensor is likewise essential for mobile payments.
At any rate, both of these phones still come packed with decent improvements over their predecessors, the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3+. They come equipped with Snapdragon 810 processors, 23-megapixel rear shooters plus 32 GB of storage under their hoods. The differences, though, are the phones' RAM (3 GB for the Z5 and 2 GB for the Z5 Compact) and their displays (5.2 inches for the former and 4.6 on the latter).
Should you wish to grab the Xperia Z5, you need to fork $599.99 out of your pocket. If you, however, are more interested in buying the Xperia Z5 Compact, you need to splurge $499.99.
