Super Mario Kart can get pretty hectic. From turtle shells being thrown and banana peels being slipped on, getting and staying in first place isn't always easy thanks to other racers always being out to get you.

Getting first place becomes significantly harder when you have 100 other racers sharing the track, all battling it out for the gold. Hat-Loving Gamer has taken the original Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo and upped the ante with an increased number of racers, adding a whole host of iconic video game characters like Sonic, Mega Man, Spyro, Master Chief and many, many more.

It is exactly as chaotic as you are imagining. The entire map is filled with racers, making it hard to distinguish who is who. At one point, Toad throws Captain Falcon out of his futuristic race car and uses it to zoom ahead of the competition. As you might expect with 101 players, bombs and turtle shells are being tossed around like candy, making for one dangerous three-lap race.

We aren't exactly sure if this is a hacked version of the game or simply a clever animation, but our money is on the latter, considering a massive dragon kart appears at one point to roast Toad and the other racers. Later, Toad's car explodes, leaving him face-down in the road. Yes, he was likely going to tell you your princess is in another castle, but did he really deserve to go out like this? Seems a little brutal, even if Toad's voice is one of the most annoying in Nintendo game history. It's okay, he does eventually get up and cross the finish line by foot, claiming 18th place.

Regardless, it's a fun video for anybody who has ever wondered what Mario Kart might be like if Nintendo decided to add more racers. Perhaps the video game giant will take notes for Mario Kart 9? You can watch the full video below.
