Xbox Live goes down for hours and Microsoft engineers are still trying to find a fix for the extended outage.

Many Xbox Live users have complained that they are unable to access several services via Microsoft's online gaming infrastructure and the company is yet to explain why.

Reports suggest that the Xbox network has been down for many hours for some gamers. Basic account usage and access to owned content are unavailable. Live TV and movies are also affected and not working. The outage is experienced by all Xbox gaming consoles and access via Windows 10.

The Xbox Live team is aware of the problem and is working on a fix; however, the team has not confirmed what has caused the extended outage.

"We're aware of the issue and our team is working hard to fix things as quickly as possible. Thanks for your patience! We'll update you as soon as we have more information," says Xbox.

"We know you're having a tough time playing video in Xbox Movies and TV and our engineers are working on getting you back to your favorite content as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience while we get it sorted out, Xbox members. We'll post an update as soon as the situation changes," it added.

Xbox Live users are not happy with the extended outage and have complained on various social media websites.

This is not the first time this month that Xbox Live users are facing issues with the services. Xbox Live services were also down in mid-February. New World Hackers (NWH) took responsibility for conducting a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack on Xbox Live service, which affected thousands of gamers all over the globe.

While Microsoft has solved the previous issue, a new problem has emerged just within a week. Meanwhile, it is still not known if the Xbox Live service is down due to technical problems with the server or due to a fresh DDoS attack.

The outages are not only leaving customers frustrated, but it is also affecting the company's goodwill and financials. Xbox Live is one of the key Microsoft services that generate revenue for the company's gaming division.

People who are paying $60 a year for Xbox Live Gold membership will be disappointed to find regular outages, which may result in discontinuing their subscription.

Xbox Live users have no option but to wait. It remains to be seen how quickly the Xbox support team will resolve the issue and brings the service back to normal.
