The MWC 2016 saw several top-notch Android-powered smartphones make their debut. Let's take a look at three of the hottest smartphones introduced at the event: the Samsung Galaxy S7, the LG G5 and the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Here's a quick comparison among the three handsets to see how they match up against each other.

Display

The LG G5 has a 5.3-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and 554 pixels per inch.

By comparison, the Galaxy S7 has a smaller 5.1-inch Quad HD screen but the resolution is identical to that of the LG G5. However, the pixel density is 577 pixels per inch. 

The Xiaomi Mi 5 also has a smaller 5.15-inch Full HD screen with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The pixel density is the least of the three at 428 pixels per inch.

Dimensions 

The Galaxy S7 measures 5.61 x 2.74 x 0.31 inches, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is at 5.69 x 2.72 x 0.29 inches and the LG G5 measures 5.88 x 2.91 x 0.30 inches. The LG offering is the tallest and widest of the three, whereas the Xiaomi smartphone is the thinnest.

Weight-wise, at 159 grams, the LG G5 is the heaviest of the three smartphones. The Galaxy S7, which weighs 152 grams, comes in second and the Xiaomi Mi 5 at 129 grams is the lightest.

Processor

The latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor powers all three smartphones. However, some models of the Galaxy S7, depending on the location of release, will also house the Exynos 8890 SoC. Both the LG G5 and the Galaxy S7 have 4 GB of RAM.

The 32 GB and 64 GB models of the Xiaomi Mi 5 boast 3 GB of RAM whereas the 128 GB ceramic version has 4 GB of RAM.

Storage

The LG G5 comes with 32 GB of onboard storage capacity, whereas the Xiaomi Mi 5 boasts 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options. The Galaxy S7 comes in only 32 GB and 64 GB options.

All three smartphones have an expandable memory option that offers support for up to 200 GB.

Camera

The LG G5 not only has a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, but also has an 8-megapixel wide-angle shooter. The Galaxy S7 has a 12-megapixel primary camera and the Xiaomi Mi 5 a 16-megapixel one.

All three handsets support OIS, autofocus and dual-LED flash.

The LG G5 has an 8-megapixel selfie camera, which betters the 5-megapixel one on the Galaxy S7 and the 4-megapixel one of the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Battery

The LG G5 has a removable 2,800 mAh battery unlike the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Galaxy S7 which offer non-removable 3,000 mAh batteries.

Operating System

All the three smartphones will come pre-loaded with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Additional Features

The LG G5, Galaxy S7 and the Xiaomi Mi 5 all come equipped with a fingerprint sensor. While the Galaxy S7 is IP68 certified and is both water- and dust-resistant, Xiaomi and LG have not touted this feature officially. The Galaxy S7 also offers the Motion Photo option, which is similar to Apple's Live Photos. LG, meanwhile, focuses on extra modules that can be attached to the G5.

Colors And Release 

The Galaxy S7 will retail in four hues: black, white, silver and gold and will release on March 11. The LG G5 is slated to release in April and also to retail in four colors: silver, titan, gold and pink. The Xiaomi Mi 5 is also poised to hit the shelves in March and to come in three colors: black, white, gold, which will come in a ceramic finish.
