Although early poor ratings led many to believe that Marvel's “Agents of SHIELD” would eventually be canceled by the network, the series has grown a considerable fan base - especially after the release of "Age of Ultron" in theaters. On Thursday, ABC announced that the super powered series is among those confirmed for early renewal for next season.

Unfortunately, another series from the Marvel Universe is not yet so lucky. The fate of "Agent Carter" is still up in the air, so we will have to wait until May for the upfronts, when ABC declares its official Fall season line up.

Meanwhile, other series that are off the chopping block and will be gracing the small screen again will be “Quantico,” starring Priyanka Chopra.

Other shows that will definitely back for a 2016-2017 run are as follows:

“America’s Funniest Home Videos”
“The Bachelor”
“Black-ish”
“Dancing With the Stars”
“Fresh Off the Boat”
“The Goldbergs”
“Grey’s Anatomy”
“How to Get Away With Murder”
“The Middle”
“Modern Family”
“Once Upon a Time”
“Scandal”
“Shark Tank”

Shows which are still currently in limbo are:

“The Muppets”
“Castle”
“Nashville”
“Dr. Ken”
“Last Man Standing”
“Galavant”
“American Crime”
“Wicked City”
“Blood and Oil”

In the past, ABC would wait until May to reveal its season lineup, however, these early announcements are being seen as one of the network shakeups that are being made after Channing Dungey took the seat of Paul Lee as the network's president.

The shows that have been confirmed for early renewal are among the network's most popular and critically acclaimed programming and is reportedly the first major move by the network under Dungey's leadership.

“We’re very proud of our strong roster of performers, and we’re excited about what they will bring us creatively next season,” she said.
