The new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will reportedly hit India in just a few days, debuting around March 8.

Samsung is gearing up for some heavy advertising ahead of the big launch and will reportedly hold an unveiling event on or around March 8, where it should offer exact pricing and release details. The new Galaxy S7 line should go on sale in India sometime in the third week of March.

The company has yet to make a formal announcement for the event, but The Economic Times learned the details ahead. According to the report, Samsung is planning to more aggressively compete against Apple and will go big to pull it off.

The ET notes that Samsung will spend a "record sum" on marketing and promoting its latest flagship smartphones, but Apple is preparing a "counter-strategy."

Samsung asked dealers to provide "maximum mileage" for its brand on shop floors, while Apple promised dealers that it will offer additional promotions and will consider cutting the price tags of some iPhone models.

Speaking of prices, some speculation indicates that Samsung could be launching its new Galaxy S7 at an aggressive starting price of Rs 45,000 ($671.75), which would be greatly competitive in the Indian market.

It remains to be seen, however, which Galaxy S7 and S7 edge models will be making their way to India. Samsung is offering two different versions of its handsets for different markets. Some versions will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, while the others will feature in-house Exynos 8990 chipsets.

As Tech Times previously reported, all global markets outside the United States, China and Japan are expected to receive the Exynos-powered versions of the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. This would mean that India would get the Exynos flavor as well, but it's best to wait for the official unveiling to get the exact details.

If Samsung does indeed plan to unveil the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge in India on March 8 and release them commercially the following week, more information will come to light soon enough. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn additional details, so stay tuned.
