WhatsApp has given its messaging app for iOS a significant update, fixing a bug that consumes a lot of storage on users' iPhones.

With the update onboard, WhatsApp for iOS now sits at version 2.12.15.

It wasn't too long ago that WhatsApp packed a new functionality into the app, allowing users to send and receive PDFs. It appears that it is in this update in which a few issues have emerged, according to reports. However, it is unknown if the glitch stemmed from the newly-added feature or was triggered by something else that was included in that update.

On the most recent update's changelog, WhatsApp says that installing this latest version of the app is going to resolve the problem that "was using a lot of storage space on some iPhones."

Another fix the company carried out in the latest update is associated with another app that caused WhatsApp to crash.

Version 2.12.15 has beefed up the ability to browse videos and photos.

With this update, users are now able to share videos or photos from other apps installed on their iPhone, such as Dropbox, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive. When users open "Photo/Video Library," they have to hit "Choose from another app ..."

Another noteworthy feature in this update is that users can now zoom in on videos they are streaming. Users are also able to select from an array of solid colors for the chat background.

Of course, users are now able send out and receive PDFs in this update. To send PDF files, they have to be selected from other apps installed on the phone, such as Dropbox, iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive.

Those who wish to use WhatsApp for iOS without having to worry that it will consume all of their iPhone's unused storage space, head over to the App Store.

Earlier, Tech Times also reported that the company has added in a host of new, nifty features into its app for Android in hopes to enhance user experience.

With this Android app version, users can share and copy links, plus clear a chat. All of these functionalities are available on the 2.12.486 version of WhatsApp for Android.
