LG recently announced the release date for the LG G5 in Canada. The company has now confirmed the smartphone will be released in the U.S. in "early April."

Samsung and LG took the wraps off of their latest and greatest handsets at Mobile World Congress in February, and smartphone fans are now waiting to get their hands on the devices. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will officially go on sale on March 11, although T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and Best Buy have already shipped the smartphones to customers who preordered the devices.

LG never gave a firm date on when the LG G5 would be available in the U.S., but recently confirmed that the modular smartphone will be released in Canada on April 8. This news has led to some speculation that all major U.S. carriers might possibly release the G5 on the same day.

LG has just announced that the LG G5 will go on sale in the U.S. in early April, but did not disclose the actual release date.

"You only have to wait a few weeks to get your hands on the LG G5. It's clear from the consumer polls being conducted by the media that people are incredibly excited about the phone and we're very proud of the practical innovations in the G5 and Friends as well," said Morris Lee, LG Electronics MobileComm's senior vice president and head of North American sales and marketing. "The rave responses to the LG G5 from the press and the industry are proof that the smartphone is exciting again and it is obvious that the LG G5 is well worth waiting for."

While LG hasn't revealed an exact release date for the LG G5 in the U.S., the company did announce where customers will be able to purchase the smartphone. The handset will be available from Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Best Buy and B&H.

LG has also announced that, for a limited time, customers who order the LG G5 will receive a free extra battery and charging cradle with purchase.
