The Samsung Galaxy S7 is arguably the most well-designed smartphone on the market so far in 2016, and it's also one of the most delicate.

Packing top-notch specs and features, the Galaxy S7 is considered to be among the best Android smartphones of 2016, but adequate protection is highly recommended to protect your investment.

Both the Galaxy S7 and the S7 Edge are covered from front to back in glass. And even though both glass panels are made of Corning Gorilla Glass 4, the device isn't immune to cracks and certainly not to scratches.

On top of all that, the glass surface of the device makes the S7 the most fingerprint magnet gadget of all time, too.

Beyond aesthetics, however, Samsung's latest flagship is also one of the more difficult smartphones to repair according to iFixit. As a result, it would be a good idea to protect the S7 with a solid case to avoid difficult and costly repairments.

These are the top cases we like best for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Samsung Galaxy S7 LED Cover

A case by Samsung for a Samsung device is the best place to start looking. Of all the Samsung cases so far for the S7 and S7 Edge, it's the LED Cover that offers the best balance of protection and design.

The S7 and S7 Edge have an always-on display, so using a cover to blanket that feature all day would be quite pointless. The Samsung Galaxy S7 LED Cover allows the S7's beautifully bright screen to shine through the cover without getting in the way. Swiping on the cover itself to turn off alarms and answer calls is possible, too.

Mophie Juice Pack For Galaxy S7

After Samsung's offerings, Mophie's popular battery packs that also protect your phone are the next best choice. Even though the S7 and S7 Edge already have more than adequate batteries, mobile warriors will definitely want the extra 11 hours of juice the Mophie Juice Pack for Galaxy S7 adds on to the device. The battery case is not yet available, but it's coming soon.

The Mophie Juice Pack for Galaxy S7 certainly does add a considerable amount of bulk to the S7, however. What users get in extra battery power they also get in extra weight and a larger footprint when they slap their beautifully designed S7 into this beast of a cover.

Galaxy S7 LifeProof Fre Case

The LifeProof Fre case for the Samsung Galaxy S7 is all about protecting the phone encased inside. Made of a rubber shell, the Fre case is perfect for those with butter fingers. It'd be difficult to blame anyone anyway for letting the S7 slip through their fingers because of the handset's all-glass construction, but the Fre's rubber outer shell should prevent that from happening at all.

Best of all, the Galaxy S7 is protected not only from drops but also water, dirt, and snow. Yes, we know the S7 is water resistant, but the Fre makes the Samsung's flagship completely waterproof, as well as resistant to a number of other unfriendly elements. Just like the Mophie Juice Pack, however, the Fre does take away from the S7 good looks but a chunky S7 always looks better than a broken S7.

VRS Galaxy S7 Edge Wallet Case

The black VRS Galaxy S7 Edge Wallet Case paired with a black S7 Edge looks like the toughest multi-functional case of them all. VRS' "Damda Clip" wallet case not only protects the S7 Edge with its TPU inner frame for drop and impact protection, but its raised TPU lips also ensure that even if the phone is dropped, the screen remains protected.

The VRS case also offers extra functionality such as holding two credit cards, or one card and some cash on the back. Compared to other wallet cases on the market, the VRS Damda Clip keeps the S7 in a sleek package and also comes in five other colors to match the rest of the S7 lineup.

Spigen Galaxy S7 Thin Fit Cases

The S7 and S7 Edge are both beautiful devices and slapping a case on them almost seems like a shame, but Spigen's thinnest case offers barely-seen protection. The Spigen Thin Fit case follows the S7's curvier form factor while leaving buttons and ports exposed for easy access, too.

With the Spigen cover on, the S7 is less prone to slipping because of a soft coating that gives the case a nice, matte finish that feels good in the hands and offers a good grip. Made of just plain plastic, we wouldn't expect too much protection for the S7 in the Spigen cover but it will still protect the handset against those scratches on the glass surface of the device.
