LG has officially launched the K8 and K5 midrange handsets, with each device landing in key markets this week.

While both devices will be landing in regions in CIS and Latin America, the K8 will also hit the stores in Asia, Africa and the Middle East while the K5 will cater to consumers in Europe.

The midrange handsets are the latest members of the company's K Series lineup, which also include the K10, K7 and K4 the company announced at CES 2016.

"The K Series delivers a feature-rich UX and an advanced camera without the premium price," says LG. "Its brilliant finish was influenced by the glossy pebble design language of previous K Series devices which imparts a luxuriousness and modern look to the collection."

LG touts the K8 as possessing a premium design with its smooth and curved edges brought by the handset's 2.5D Arc Glass feature. Users can instantly enjoy the K8's comfortable and secure grip thanks to its back cover made of woven material.

Notable highlights of the K8 include a 5-inch HD display with In-cell Touch, a 1.3GHz Quad-Core chipset, 2,125 mAh removable battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and RAM of 1.5 GB (for Europe and North America) and 1 GB (for Latin America). LG does not mention a specific internal storage for the handset but during the official specs unveiling, the company said the K8 will have 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32 GB through microSD.

The LG K8 also features an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 4G LTE, NFC, Micro-USB and a trio of color options that include Gold, White and Indigo.

While the K5 also has a 5-inch display, it features a FWVGA (854 x 480) pixel resolution. The K8 will have an HD resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels.

Other key features of the K5 include a RAM of 1 GB, ROM of 8 GB with a microSD slot, a removable battery of 1,900 mAh, a 5-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Android Lollipop and the same 1.3 GHz Quad-Core chipset. It will come in three colors: Gold, Silver and Titan.

Juno Cho, CEO and President of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, says the creation of the K5 and K8 is inspired by the company's mission to deliver the best products that meet the diverse needs and desires of customers.

"The K8 and K5 will be fantastic choices for anyone who is seeking a smartphone with great looks, great looks, at a great price," says Cho.
