New images of the Moto G2 and its removable rear covers have leaked ahead of Motorola's Sept. 4 launch event, where Motorola is expected to release its highly anticipated Moto 360 smart watch, Moto G2, and flagship Moto X + 1.

Motorola will join Apple and Samsung in launching new flagship smartphones in September. Apple is widely expected to introduce its two largest iPhones to date on Sept. 9 with a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6. Samsung will officially launch its next-generation Galaxy Note 4 phablet at a press event on Sept. 3.

The Moto X + 1 will be customizable, just like the Moto X, and is rumored to debut with wood, leather or plastic rear cases. The smartphone is also said to have front-facing stereo speakers and an aluminum frame that will make the device thinner and more durable than its predecessor.

The Moto G2 will continue what the company created with the original Moto G; a smartphone that was affordable and offered users popular features like an HD display and the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat. New images of the Moto G2 have just leaked and give us a clear shot at the smartphone's 5.2-inch 1080p Full HD display. The handset will have an upgraded rear camera, and users will have the ability to change the look of the smartphone through the use of snap-on rear covers. The images also show Motorola has its own replacement cases for the G2 ready to sell.

The Motorola G2 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1280 x 720 display and run Android 4.4 KitKat, with an upgrade to Android L planned. It will reportedly use a 1.2-GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Adreno 305 GPU (graphics processing unit), and 1 GB of RAM.

The Moto G2 will reportedly receive in upgrade in its rear camera. The smartphone is expected to include an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The handset is going to pack 8 GB of internal storage and include a microSD expansion slot.

We'll know all of Motorola's official details regarding the Moto X + 1, Moto G2, and Moto 360 on Sept. 4.
