Things might get tough (and probably more expensive) for Harley Quinn fans and cosplayers, at least those who want to get their hands on one of those "Daddy's Lil Monster" T-shirts worn by Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad.

Although knock-offs of that shirt are currently all over Etsy, eBay and every other online vendor you can think of, DC Comics wants to nip sales of those shirts in the bud: the company recently registered the phrase "Daddy's Lil Monster" for a variety of items, including those shirts.

Yes, that means that all those companies selling shirts similar to the one in the Suicide Squad movie may soon get cease and desist orders from DC. And the registration doesn't just include T-shirts, either — the company registered the phrase for all the following:

"Clothing, footwear and headgear for men, women and children — namely, shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts, jogging suits, trousers, pants, shorts, tank tops, rainwear, cloth baby bibs, skirts, blouses, dresses, suspenders, sweaters, jackets, coats, raincoats, snow suits, bow ties, ties, scarves, robes, hats, caps, sun visors, belts, scarves, sleepwear, pajamas, lingerie, underwear, boots, shoes, sneakers, sandals, slippers, socks, booties, slipper socks, swimwear and masquerade and Halloween costumes and masks sold in connection therewith."

That pretty much covers anything you can wear to show your fandom for the movie version of Harley Quinn. That also includes cosplayers wanting to do the Harley costume from Suicide Squad, and, unfortunately, that is probably the group most affected by this turn of events.

However, DC failed in creating those Harley T-shirts to begin with, obviously not thinking about the potential sales those would create for the company, and that's their loss. That's why all those eBay, Etsy and other sellers jumped on board: they saw a demand and they fulfilled it. DC also didn't release plans on creating a version of the Harley T-shirt (or any other related merchandise) either, so this might upset fans hoping to recreate Harley's signature Suicide Squad look.

Harley fans can get a good look at the live action Harley Quinn in her signature T-shirt later this year, though, when Suicide Squad opens in theaters on Aug. 5.
