Fans of the OnePlus family of smartphones will be pleased to learn that the successor of the OnePlus 2 - dubbed the OnePlus 3 - has surfaced online.

The impending OnePlus 3 has made an appearance on the benchmark site AnTuTu, giving a peek into what consumers can expect from the next-gen handset.

On Friday, specifications of the OnePlus 3 leaked on the benchmark site per a report from GizmoChina.

The tech blog reveals that the OnePlus 3 model is called OnePlus A3000. Under the hood, the upcoming smartphone houses the latest Snapdragon 820 processor from Qualcomm and 4 GB of RAM.

The upcoming OnePlus handset will also boast Adreno 530 GPU and a 32 GB on-board storage capacity. It is not known if this will be expandable or not. However, a strong possibility exists that OnePlus will take the expandable memory route and offer a microSD slot in the handset.

The benchmark also points to the smartphone boasting a 16 MP primary camera and an 8 MP front-facing camera to satisfy selfie lovers.

The OnePlus 3 will apparently come pre-loaded with a customized OxygenOS platform, which will be based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

The smartphone is also expected to boast a 5.5-inch Full HD screen with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. Previous rumors have also pointed to similar specifications for the smartphone.

Earlier in February, Tech Times reported, Carl Pei - the company's co- founder - had confirmed that the OnePlus 3 would become official in end Q2 2016. This basically translates to late-June 2016 time window for the OnePlus 3's release.

Pei had also divulged at the time that the OnePlus 3's design sensibilities would differ from that of its predecessors and that the handset would tout a "new design."

While the OnePlus 2 was unable to replicate the success of the OnePlus One, Pei was optimistic that the OnePlus 3 would be able to "captivate" consumers like the company's first-ever smartphone.

The co-founder had also hinted that not only would OnePlus look to employ "traditional marketing" strategies to promote the OnePlus 3, the company is also looking toward formulating a "better buying process." This assertion suggests that OnePlus could be looking to do away with the invitation-only model for the OnePlus 3 purchases, a strategy it has employed in the past.

OnePlus is also eyeing the U.S. market as Pei let on and it is expected that the OnePlus 3 will retail in the region and other parts of the world as an unlocked device.

OnePlus is allegedly poised to launch the OnePlus 3 smartphone at an event in Beijing on April 7 according to the report.
