Nike has unveiled its funky FuelBand SE, which will be compatible exclusively with Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch.

On Tuesday, October 15, Nike unveiled the new FuelBand SE at an event in New York City. Just like the Nike+ FuelBand, the latest FuelBand SE also connects users with a new Nike+ FuelBand App. The Nike+ FuelBand SE wristband will be available in classic black, but will have other color options such as yellow, pink and red on key parts of the band.

Nike launched the original FuelBand in early 2012 which tracks its wearer's all-day movement using NikeFuel. The latest Nike+ FuelBand SE is built on the iconic design and experience of its predecessor and delivers even more information and motivation to keep the wearer moving.

NikeFuel, the company's proprietary unit of measurement for tracking activity, will measure all kinds of activities.

"We continue to innovate around the Nike+ ecosystem to deliver the very best experiences for our consumers, motivating and inspiring athletes at all levels," said Stefan Olander, Nike's VP of Digital Sport. "The Nike+ Fuel Lab, along with new Nike+ FuelBand SE and Nike+ Apps significantly enhance our NikeFuel platform."

This new second-generation FuelBand SE is very similar in design when compared to the original FuelBand; however, it has better ability to differentiate between different types of activity such as cycling, spinning and rowing.

The FuelBand SE will be available in three sizes: small (5.79 inches/147mm), medium/large (6.77 inches/172mm) and extra-large (7.76 inches/197mm). The FuelBand SE also includes two easy-to-insert links (.32 inches / 8mm and .63 inches/16mm) for a better fitting on a user's wrist.

The device comes with USB charging cable, charging stand and sizing tool. Its ambient light sensor detects environmental light levels and adjusts accordingly. The FuelBand SE can be paired with iPhones 4S and above and fifth-generation iPod Touch and above, using the Nike+ FuelBand app available for iOS 6.1 and above.

The water-resistant FuelBand SE will be available from November 6 and is currently available for pre-order for $149. The latest Nike wristband will initially ship to the U.S., the UK, Canada, France Germany and Japan.
