HTC has set April 12 as the release date of its next flagship HTC 10. Prior to launch, the device appears to have just earned FCC approval in the United States.

Just recently, a leaked image has shown the HTC 10 running AnTuTu benchmark with results that show how it outperformed huge rivals such the Samsung's Galaxy S7 edge and Apple's iPhone 6s.

Now, it seems the FCC has approved not just one but two models of HTC's next flagship. Both HTC models 2PS6200 and 2PS6500 show to have gained FCC approval on the agency's OET Exhibits List, although the model numbers are yet to be confirmed.

The HTC 10 is purported to have a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super LCD 5 display  with a pixel resolution of 2,560 x 1,440. The flagship will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 along with Qualcomm Adreno 530 GPU and 4 GB of RAM. Other highlights include 32 GB internal storage which can be expanded through a microSD expansion slot, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and HTC Sense 8.0.

As for the battery, the HTC 10 will reportedly pack a 3,000 mAh battery. Connectivity options will also vary and include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS with GLONASS and USB Type-C that has FM Radio support.

HTC touts its next flagship to come equipped with a 12-megapixel UltraPixel rear camera that has laser focus and optical image stabilization (OIS). It will also be capable of 4K video recording. There is also a 5-megapixel selfie camera found in front that comes with Samsung S5K4E6 sensor and full HD video recording capability.

At the Mobile World Congress 2016, HTC was confident in saying that its next flagship will have a "very, very compelling camera experience." The company added they were giving such comment after seeing what has been happening in the market.

The company also turned to its India Twitter page and to Google+ where it talked about the next flagship as the fastest and smoothest Android device.

"Not all phones are created equal," said HTC. "The fastest and smoothest Android. You'll feel it. #powerof10."

HTC's April 12 unveiling event is set to occur simultaneously in three locations including New York (8 a.m.), London (1 p.m.) and Taipei (8 p.m.). Fans of HTC may just find the upcoming HTC 10 as the "hero" phone they've been waiting to see.
