Racing games are usually fun.

However, those that truly allow gamers to race on the edge make the experience all the more fulfilling.

That's what PlayStation's new DiRT Rally title aims to do, enable gamers to tap their thumbs through what PlayStation calls "that white-knuckle feeling of racing" through perilous roads at breakneck speeds.

Part of the game's lure is the ability for gamers to race on various arduous terrains, including ice, snow, asphalt, gravel and of course .... dirt-covered roads. Each unique surface sparks an entirely different experience for gamers, especially considering the revved-up cars they're whipping around at mind-bending speeds.

In the trailer, which was launched earlier this week, coinciding with the game's release, you can sense how thrilling it must feel to drift on ice- or dirt-covered roads like the title's Epic Pikes Peak stage.

The Codemasters Software company, which developed the game, boasts that it road-tested upwards of 80 million miles by the community to deliver the most thrilling racing experience possible via this new title. Adding to that thrill is the Codemasters RaceNet Evaluation and Statistics Tool being available on dirtgame.com.

The online features provide leaderboard rankings and stats, so you can compare your stage times against those of other gamers in the community. To keep you extra honest, you'll be able to sort through leaders by assists and input. So, for example, if you're playing with assists and a game pad, you'll be up against gamers using the same. If you're using a gaming steering wheel without any assists, then those are the same gamers you'll be measured against as you compete for the fastest stage time.

Part of that live online feedback also includes a top-down aerial view, one in which you'll be able to slow down and analyze your performance corner by corner, as reported by dirtgame.com's blog. Pretty neat feature, to say the least.

Both the Codemasters RaceNet Evaluation and Statistics Tool are live online right now on dirtgame.com. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers can access the features through the website directly, while PC players will need a patch to utilize it.
