The upcoming Huawei P9 Max was spotted on GFXBench sporting a huge 6.9-inch display with a pixel resolution of 1,920 x 1,080. The company is expected to launch the smartphone as a successor to last year's P8 Max model.

The P9 Max boasts Huawei's own HiSilicon Kirin 950 chipset, which the company first introduced on the Mate 8. However, the bad news is that it's not the newer version found on the P9 and P9 Plus, both of which feature a Kirin 955.

The new Huawei P9 Max will apparently come packed with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage and a 3,000 mAh battery.

The site also reveals that the new P9 Max will have an ARM Mali-T880 GPU and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

As for the camera, photo buffs will surely be glad to know that the P9 Max comes equipped with a 16-megapixel rear camera that features touch focus, HDR photo, flash, face detection and auto focus. It also has an 8-megapixel front selfie camera.

Other notable features include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, compass, and a slew of sensors such as accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, pedometer and proximity.

The Huawei P9 Max would be the company's fourth device in the P9 family.

Back in March, we reported that the specs and pricing details on the P9, P9 Max and P9 Lite devices were leaked on OppoMart. The retailer listed the P9 at a $499 price point, while the P9 Max and the P9 Lite were priced at $699 and $299, respectively. All three models from the company's P9 lineup have sleek metal builds and fingerprint sensors nestled on the rear. A USB Type-C will also be added as a nice surprise to the higher-end models.

It is highly likely that Huawei will release the huge P9 Max in the coming weeks, although there's no information yet on whether it will be only in China or it will also have a global launch. Set as a flagship device, the P9 Max will reportedly retail at around the $700 mark.
