Twitter's Android-based app might be getting a new design featuring a new and improved graphical user interface (GUI) with the button system simplified.

Current builds of the Android Twitter app have four core tabs, the Main Feed, Moments, Notifications and Direct Messages existing as four buttons at the top of the screen. These buttons have to be individually tapped on and exited from every time a user wants to view their contents, not really offering much flexibility.

The reported new design however, now turns the four main tabs into swipe-able pages that can be accessed easily through flicks of a finger. User can now either tap the button to quickly view the feed they want to see or swipe their fingers across the screen to access the contents.

Other buttons previously plastered on the screen have now been hidden away to reduce a clutter of options on the screen. Tabs such as Highlights, Settings and Profile can be accessed by swiping to the right as the hidden menu sits comfortably outside of the screen on its left pane.

Users can also toggle this screen by tapping on their profile icon visible at the top of the page during start-up. Once users start to scroll through their feeds, the profile icon bar collapses conveniently.

The previous tweet button, always visible at the bottom, now exists as a floating button across most screens, hidden away when not needed.

This minimalistic design incorporating the swipe method is still being tested and might not be present on most Android Twitter apps. However, reports and users alike who've been chosen to test out the app prefer this UI design better than the current one. Hopefully, Twitter implements this new design and now provide easier access to their tabs.
