While Sony and Microsoft battle for next-generation gaming console supremacy, another war is brewing up on the mobile front.

Google's Android mobile operating system has always had a one up on Apple's iOS, thanks a plethora of quality controllers. Though a few iOS controllers were available, support was extremely poor and usability was clunky.

This is why Apple announced its Made-For-iPhone licensed controller standard back in June during its developer conference. The goal was to allow both game developers and accessory makers to coordinate button layouts so iOS gamers could use real controllers instead of touchscreen virtual buttons.

The first two controllers for iOS 7 to hit the market include Logitech's Powershell and Moga's Ace Power, which should serve two specific types of iOS gamers.

Logitiech's Powershell is a case-like controller that fits around the iPhone 5, 5s and 5c. It features an analog D-pad on the lefthand side, four colorful buttons arranged in the traditional diamond and two pressure-sensitive shoulder buttons. It attaches to the iPhone through the Lightning jack. Because it lacks analogue sticks, it may be better suited toward more casual games. Currently, the Powershell supports more than 300 games including Bastion and Galaxy on Fire. The controller can also charge user's iPhone during play, thanks to its micro-USB chargeable 1,500mAH battery.

For the more hardcore gamer, Moga's Ace Power features everything the Powershell has along with two analog sticks and shoulder buttons. The Ace Power also connects through the iPhone's Lightning jack and has a rechargeable 1800mAH battery. While the Powershell is more stationary in form, Moga's controller is collapsable. According to PowerA president and cofounder Eric Bensussen, the Ace Power is for gamers looking for a console-like experience.

"MOGA controllers were built for real gaming by real gamers," said Bensussen. "We're excited to deliver Moga Ace Power to iPhone and iPod touch users in time for the holidays and have them experience the precision, console-style controls that promise to revolutionize the gaming experience on these devices."

Available now, both Powershell and Ace Power retailed for $100.
