Xiaomi is expected to announce the new MIUI 8 on May 10, along with the new Xiaomi Mi Max phablet. The highly anticipated Xiaomi Mi Band 2 was expected on the same date, but it may no longer be the case.

The latest details on the launch revealed that the Mi Band 2 is currently having some production issues, which may cause the wearable to have a delay on its official announcement.

In a post on Weibo, the CEO and founder of Huami, Xiaomi's partner in manufacturing the wearable, said that the Mi Band 2 is facing some manufacturing issues that are affecting its production. According to Huang Wang, the company is having difficulty in creating enough devices in order to meet the consumers' demand.

Separately, Xiaomi's CEO has also confirmed that the Mi Band 2's release will be delayed. On his Weibo account, Jun said that increasing the wearable's current production is difficult, which explains why its release will be delayed by roughly one month. If this is the case, consumers can then expect to finally see the launch to push through on or before June 10.

Last week, we reported how the Mi Band 2 is purported to have an LCD display and a circular physical button, features that are not found on its predecessor. Such features were even made more obvious by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun after being spotted at a conference in China with the Mi Band 2 worn around his wrist.

In a separate report, it was also learned that the Mi Band 2 is expected to boast the same health-tracking features found on the original Mi Band wearable. Other specs details on the company's well-loved and soon-to-launch wearable remain scarce at the moment.

The demand for the Mi Band 2 may have been too much for the company to handle and caused the production to be affected. After all, the wearable's LCD display will be removable, allowing more ways for the users to customize the Mi Band 2. Users can also have an easier way to check the current time with the wearable's display and explore all of its functions using the physical button.Lastly, the upcoming Mi Band 2 will feature a rubber strap, a design feature that is reminiscent of its older sibling.

Apart from the announcement of the delay, no other information has been revealed about the wearable, such as pricing details and other features. Hopefully, it will carry the same competitive pricing of $15, which has been instrumental for the success of the earlier Mi Band version.
