An update for unlocked units of HTC's latest flagship smartphone, the HTC 10, has been launched to users in the United States. The update, named 1.53.617.5, contains a few important performance tweaks that will be welcomed by HTC 10 users.

Android news website Droid Life acquired the changelog for the update, revealing what users should expect once they have finished downloading and installing the near 400 MB update.

The first improvement listed in the changelog is for the performance of the HTC 10's camera, which while proving to be a very good one, is not in the same league at all times compared to the cameras of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5.

After the installation of the update, Phandroid, another Android news website, tested the HTC 10's camera to see if there were any significant changes. True to the changelog, the update did improve the performance of the smartphone's camera, with the reported haze on pictures taken removed and a slightly better dynamic range for shots taken outdoors.

The other items listed in the update's changelog are improvements to the stability of Wi-Fi connections for the smartphone, as well as to the overall stability of the HTC 10's system.

Any update that promises improvements is a good one, so HTC 10 users should download and install it as soon as they could.

HTC started shipping preordered HTC 10 units to the United States in early May. The HTC 10 smartphones being shipped, however, are for customers that preordered the device through the company's official website and not through carriers.

The HTC 10 packs a 5.2-inch quad HD display, with the variant of the smartphone coming to the United States being powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset. The device also comes with 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of expandable internal storage, a 12 MP rear-facing camera and a 5 MP front-facing camera.
