Hideo Kojima's new game studio, Kojima Productions, is in the early stages of putting together its first game. Though it's still incredibly early, Kojima recently handed out a few tiny details about what kind of game players can expect.

Surprise! It's an action game. Nobody saw that coming. All jokes aside, there are a few more details about the game floating around after Kojima recently sat down for an interview with Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. In a translation of the interview via Gematsu, Kojima says you'll understand what his company's new game is about when you see it.

"It's an amazing game," Kojima says. "We're thinking about everything all at once, including the plot, characters and game systems. Since certain parts are fairly new, we cannot help but experiment.

"While not to say that it's open-world, users who enjoy today's AAA games (The Division and Uncharted, etc.) will be able to easily enjoy it. When it is announced, you might think ‘that's not that outstanding,' but you'll understand when you see it and play it. The genre is action."

When asked about why Kojima Productions eventually decided to partner with Sony for its first game, Kojima says it came down to what company would put faith in just a concept.

"Offers came in from all over the world, but these places use a Hollywood system, and I don't like doing detailed presentations," Kojima says. "From there, I wondered who would put their faith in me with just a rough concept, and SIE was who I was looking for. We get quite a lot of freedom and they're really easy to work with."

Given how Kojima's last few years with Konami went, it makes sense the famed creator would value creative freedom over just about anything else. The rest, as they say, is history. It will likely be several years before the company's game is ready for the spotlight (Kojima says the team is currently in a temporary office), but fans are already hungry for more of the famed developer's signature style.
