Apple will finally bring iOS' favorite personal assistant, Siri, to the Mac in OS X 10.12. Leaked images show a Siri icon in the dock along with a shortcut from the menu bar, and Apple will reportedly offer "Hey, Siri" hands-free voice commands for Mac users.

When Apple launched the iPhone 4s in October 2011, like all s-moniker phones, it came with an exclusive feature intended to appeal to new users and tempt current owners to upgrade. 3D Touch is only offered on the latest flagship iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Touch ID made its debut on the iPhone 5s in 2013, and Siri became a household name with the release of the iPhone 4s and spawned a digital assistant revolution inside our smartphones.

Samsung has never been shy about taking inspiration from Apple and the company launched its own personal assistant, S Voice in May 2012, which was exclusive to the flagship Galaxy S3 at the time. Not to be outdone, Google wanted its own take on Siri for Android users and built the assistant into Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which was released in July 2012.

Microsoft introduced its digital assistant, Cortana in 2014 for its smartphones and brought it to Windows 10 in 2015.

It now appears that Apple will be bringing Siri to Mac OS X 10.12. The digital assistant has been rumored to be coming to OS X for years, and now, newly leaked images show how users will access Siri on a Mac.

MacRumors received the Siri images from a source with a great track record of reporting upcoming Apple software and provided the image above. The dock icon matches the round icons in OS X and has Siri's familiar and colorful waveform.

There will also be a shortcut to access Siri in the menu bar of Mac OS X 10.12. The source also claims users will be able to use the hands-free activation feature by saying, "Hey Siri."

Mac OS X 10.12 is expected to be released in the fall and previewed at Apple's WWDC beginning June 13, where we'll get the full and official details.
