Stan Lee, being Stan Lee, is a regular fixture at conventions. Unfortunately, he's winding down this year, with 2016 heralding his last appearance at the New York Comic Con (NYCC).

The NYCC announced the news on its home page, inviting convention-goers not to miss Lee's final appearance in the event in October. This is certainly sad news for fans, but hey, cut the man some slack. He is 93 years old, after all. While it appears he doesn't have any pressing health issues at the moment, he does need to slow down a little.

The good news, however, is that there is no word about Lee ceasing to attend the San Diego Comic-Con and Comikaze. This means that, while West Coast fans will have some traveling to do, it is still possible to see the man in the flesh in an environment he thrives in.

If traveling that far is out of the question, then make sure you don't miss the comic book legend's final appearance at the NYCC.

In February, Lee also said that Fan Expo Canada will be his last convention appearance in the Great North.

While he is slowing down, Lee's not exactly the sit-at-home type, so you can expect that he's not going to entirely disappear from the public eye. His most recent appearance was in a cameo for Captain America: Civil War.

Lee had the privilege of working with Jack Kirby and Joe Simon, who let him write for Captain America when he was starting out. For Marvel, he has worked on The X-Men, Thor, Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Daredevil, The Avengers, Iron Man and Spider-Man.

The NYCC will run from Oct. 6 to 9 at the Javits Center. This year, the organizers are introducing fan verification in an effort to reduce, if not eradicate, scalpers and resellers and improve the ticket-buying experience for fans.

From May 20 to June 13, anyone looking to score tickets to NYCC must fill out a fan verification profile. Only those who have been fan verified will be able to buy tickets via a unique link that will be provided about 48 hours before ticket-selling begins.
