Last-minute planning has you in need to book a hotel as soon as one week in advance? Updated versions of the award-winning iOS, Android and Windows app HotelTonight now allows users to book available rooms up to seven days in advance.

The redesign allows for more flexibility when it comes to check-in to "empower people to plan less and live more," taking only 10 seconds to book a room. HotelTonight, the company that invented same-day mobile hotel booking, plans to focus on providing the highest quality experience to users. The app is ideal for booking weekend getaways, road trips and last-minute business trips.

Competing against the big booking companies Travelocity, Expedia and Kayak, HotelTonight CEO Sam Shank says the app could holds its own because there is a demand for customers who need to book a room within a short notice.

"We felt that we could do a better job at a week ahead booking than the big online travel agencies that focus on 365 days and on cruises and car rentals," he says.

The update includes an in-app weather forecast to help customers pack accordingly, a handpicked selection of hotels, and themed "Playlists" that include the perfect locations to travel to.

"We spent the past 3 months focused on this new release in an all-hands, all-in, company-wide effort to reinvent last-minute mobile hotel booking," says COO and co-founder Jared Simon. "The revamped HT app highlights HotelTonight's ease of use and curation standards more than ever. We're confident we've created the only hotel booking tool you'll ever need."

Other online travel agencies focus on a bit of everything from flights, hotels, cars and ships. But Expedia recently added a "Tonight" section, Orbitz has a "Nearby & Available Tonight" and Travelocity has a "Deal Tonight" section, to cater to the last-minute planners.

HotelTonight was originally launched in 2010, and has received more than $80 million in funding. The app has about 11 million downloads and over 10,000 hotel partners in 28 countries.
