British smartphone maker Wileyfox has launched an affordable mobile phone called Spark.

Nick Muir, the CEO of Wileyfox says that smartphones have now become an important part of human life and it should not be treated as a luxury item as it used be a few decades ago.

"That's why we believe that they need to work for us and who we are. But everyone's different. We're obsessive about what you need from your phone, so we have ripped up the rule book and set new standards with the Spark," says Muir. "We believe it's unrivaled in design and performance with additional features that you can't get anywhere else at extraordinary value for money. It's choice our customers have never had before."

On June 28, Wileyfox revealed the Spark, a handset that includes high-quality components for enhanced customer experience. The Spark sports a 5-inch IPS HD screen with a display resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The screen is made of toughened (Dragontrail) glass, which is six times tougher than standard glass.

A quad-core Mediatek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and 1 GB of RAM powers Wileyfox's latest smartphone. The mobile device comes with 8 GB of on-board storage. Customers will have the option to expand the storage capacity to up to 128 GB with a microSD card.

The Wileyfox Spark is equipped with 8-megapixel front-facing and rear-facing cameras with face detection and panorama modes. The handset has a 2,200 mAh battery that offers up to 352 hours of talk time.

The dual-SIM functionality allows customers to use two SIMs. The feature allows customers to carry just one phone for business and personal use.

"Evolved from the latest Android 6.0, Cyanogen 13.0 has all the same features you love. Plus it offers unrivaled security and the freedom to truly make your phone an extension of you. The same but different," says Wileyfox.

The Spark measures 143 x 70.4 x 8.65 millimeters, or 5.62 x 2.77 x 0.34 inches, and the handset weighs 134.5 grams, or 4.74 ounces.

The smartphone is available in two hues: Sandstone Black and White. The handset will be available to preorder on the company's own website. Wileyfox has also announced that the Spark will also be available via Amazon.

The Spark has a price tag of £89.99 / €119.99, or about $120. Although the Spark has a pocket-friendly price, the handset may face stiff competition from rival smartphones from bigger and more well-known brands such as Samsung, LG, HTC and more.

Along with the Spark, Wileyfox has also launched the Spark + and the Spark X handsets. The Spark + comes with 16 GB of storage, a 13-megapixel primary camera and 2 GB of RAM.

The Spark X has all the features of the Spark + but the handset has a 5.5-inch screen and a bigger 3,300 mAh battery.

The Spark + will retail for £114.99/€149.99 ($154) and the Spark X for £129.99/€169.99 ($175).
