A few months ago in April, Verizon launched its annual national trade-in event, offering new customers, existing subscribers and switching users the chance to trade in their old smartphones for as much as $300, which can be put toward getting a new smartphone under the carrier.

In a bid to attract more subscribers, Verizon is bringing the offer back this summer, and customers looking to upgrade their devices should think about taking advantage of the promotion.

On Verizon's dedicated webpage for the trade-in event, the company detailed the simple process that customers will have to go through to avail of the offer.

The first and fastest way to take advantage of the trade-in promotion is to visit a participating Verizon store, which will provide customers immediately with the amount that customers can get from trading in their smartphones. The value can then be immediately applied either as a down payment on a new smartphone, as a payment for Verizon bills or as a gift card purchase.

The alternative method to trade in a smartphone would be to access Verizon's online facility for the promotion. The webpage will also be revealing the value that customers can receive for their smartphones immediately.

Verizon added that it could be the perfect chance for subscribers to other carriers to make the switch to Verizon, as switching customers would be able to receive up to $650, which can be used to pay off the customer's previous smartphone and contract with another carrier upon trading in their smartphone.

The smartphones that customers can trade in should be in good working condition with no cosmetic damage. However, Verizon will accept devices with cracked screens under the offer if the customer would be interested in acquiring Motorola's Droid Turbo 2 or Droid Maxx 2.

The eligible smartphones that customers can apply their up to $300 credit toward are Apple's iPhone 6; Samsung's Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5; HTC's M9 and LG's G4 and V10.

Customers can also choose to trade in their smartphones for newer models, but they may not be able to receive the full credit of $300. In addition to the aforementioned Droid Turbo 2 or Droid Maxx 2, these devices include Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Samsung's Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, the HTC 10 and the LG G5.

The trade-in offer by Verizon is said to be only available for a limited time, with no definite date set on when the promotion will end. Customers looking to upgrade their smartphones should definitely think about taking up Verizon's offer, but should not wait too long as the deal could suddenly be taken down.
