Good news for fans of Destiny: developer Bungie has announced that the sci-fi shooter's upcoming expansion Rise of Iron will bring Private Matches to gamers.

Come September, players on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be able to engage in Private Matches. The exciting news was shared by Bungie at Gamescom 2016 during a live stream on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

"As announced on our gamescom Livestream, the launch of Rise of Iron will herald the arrival of Private Matches to Destiny. When Lord Saladin issues his call to infiltrate the Plaguelands, Lord Shaxx will throw you the keys to the Crucible. From there, the arena will be what you make of it!" reaffirmed the developer in a blog post.

Private Matches will basically enable a gamer to develop their own lobby where they can engage in Crucible game types. The creator of the lobby - the Fireteam leader - will have the ability to choose from several pre-selected options to put together a match and also choose the match settings they want.

If a Fireteam leader wishes to create a Private Match lobby, they will have to open the Director in Orbit. They will then have to select Crucible > Private Match mode. This mode will enable the leader to select the match settings they desire under Game Options menu.

Thanks to the arrival of this much-requested feature when the Rise of Iron expansion releases in September, gamers will be able to set up their very own Crucible match against a friend. They will be able to set the score limit, opt for the mode, choose the map, limit the time frame, the time of the day, as well as Light level.

Moreover, as Bungie revealed, each Private Match will happen in a "personal clubhouse" that will have the name of the Clan that controls it. The Private Match will also show a player's clan affiliation in the multiplayer lobby. To host a match on their own, a gamer will not necessarily be required to be a part of a Clan as a Fireteam leader can also host a match.

Additionally, if a player wants to start a match by themselves to explore a new map area such as the Icarus or test a new weapon, they can do so.

In a Private Match, gamers will also be able to swap between Fireteam and Team voice channels. While the Team voice channel will enable one to communicate with other gamers in their own team, the Fireteam voice channel will allow all players in the Private Match lobby direct communication.

When it comes to rewards, all gamers will be able to earn 30 Crucible Reputation if they participate in a Private Match that is completed.

The Destiny: Rise of Iron expansion is slated to release on Sept. 20. Gamers do not have to wait very long before they can indulge in the new Private Matches.
