A new report claims Apple is planning to increase the internal storage offered in the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The new models will reportedly top out at 256 GB of internal storage and start at 32 GB.

Apple fans will have some new software and devices to look forward to in September. The company is expected to release major updates to the operating systems that power its Macs, iPhones/iPads, Apple Watch and Apple TV, and it will also launch its next-generation iPhones.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to use a virtually-identical design to that of its predecessors, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The new models will reportedly feature a 3D Touch Home button to replace the physical mechanical button and drop the standard 3.5 mm headphone port, both of which have been offered on every iPhone since the original was released in 2007.

Recently-leaked images of the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus show that Apple has tweaked the design of the pair's rear case to include more discreet antenna bands that run across the top and bottom of the devices, unlike the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which feature prominent visible antenna bands across their shells. The images also appear to confirm that the pair will be offered in a new Space Black color option.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be powered by Apple's latest and greatest A10 processor, which was recently spotted in leaked photos and a recent benchmark of the iPhone 7 Plus alleges it will include 3 GB of RAM.

Now, a new report appears to back up previous claims that Apple will increase the minimum and maximum internal storage offered in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Digitimes is reporting that sources have told the publication Apple will top out its latest iPhones with a whopping 256 GB of storage. The pair is expected to begin with 32 GB, up from the 16 GB offered in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which also top out at 128 GB.

As always, it's best to take reports of highly-anticipated devices like Apple's next-gen iPhones with a grain of salt, and luckily, we don't have much longer to wait. Apple is widely expected to launch the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a press event in September, with preorders reportedly beginning on Sept. 9.

We'll keep you updated on any additional iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus details as they become available.
