The blocky-ness that allows children and adults to come up with all sorts of blocky creations in Lego and Minecraft makes them two of the most beloved games in the world. It also makes them a match made in heaven.

Essentially, Minecraft is Lego in digital form, letting millions of gamers around the world dig up blocks out of the ground to create ancient metropolises, space shuttles, cathedrals and even ridiculously detailed recreations of King's Landing in Game of Thrones. This is why it's no surprise if Lego decides to come out with its own Minecraft-themed Lego sets.

Lego has yet to make an official announcement but Mir Kubikov, the Russian retailer of Lego sets, has already put up listings for six new Minecraft Lego sets on its website. The listings, which are currently described as "Coming Soon," are named "Cave," "Dragon Edge," "Farm," "First Night," "Mine" and "Workbench." Each set contains a mini figure of the main character Steve and his various building tools, as well as a villainous Creeper and a host of pets and farm animals.

Lego has declined to comment on the leaked product images but earlier hinted at Minecraft-themed Lego play sets to be released at an unspecified time during the fall, offering the new kits in time for the holiday shopping season.

If the images from Mir Kubikov are pictures of legitimate Lego toys, this would not be the first time Lego released Minecraft Lego sets. In June 2012, the company released Micro World, a fan-voted Lego set created by an independent Lego builder and uploaded to Lego CUUSOO, now Lego Ideas, where fans vote for their favorite Lego sets proposed by other people not affiliated with Lego. If a set receives 10,000 supporters who pledge to buy the set, Lego takes up the proposal, sells it and shares profits with the person who proposed it. Micro World currently sells for $35 on Lego's online store and is restricted to one person per sale due to high demand.

However, the sets appearing on Mir Kubikov's page appear to be more reminiscent of Lego's own style than the CUUSOO-proposed Minecraft-themed kit, and Lego will most likely release larger sets than Micro World.

Despite what most game developers would consider crude graphics, Minecraft has millions of devoted fans around the world. It is the top paid game on Google's Play Store and the second most downloaded paid game on Apple's App Store. It is also available on PlayStation and Xbox and Microsoft, which snapped up Minecraft developer Mojang for $2.5 billion last month. A total of two billion hours have been played on the Xbox 360 version of Minecraft alone.
