Tablets are one of the hottest products to buy during the holiday season and Amazon has a number of them to attract customers. Introducing the Fire, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10.

To get to know each of them, here is a comparison of Amazon Fire tablets on offer.

Display

The Fire tablets are available in a number of size options to suit personal preferences. The Fire sports a 7-inch screen with a display resolution of 1,024 x 600. The Fire HD 8 touts an 8-inch display while the Fire HD 10 comes with a 10.1-inch screen. The displays of both the Fire HD 8 and the Fire HD 10 pack in the same 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution.

Processor And RAM

A 1.3 GHz quad-core processor powers both the Fire and Fire HD 8, and a faster 1.5 GHz quad-core chipset runs the bigger Fire HD 10.

All the three tablets have 1 GB of RAM.

Storage

Customers can purchase the Fire with 8 GB or 16 GB internal storage options. The Fire HD 8 is available with 16 GB or 32 GB onboard storage capacity. Customers have the option to purchase the Fire HD 10 with 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB internal storage capacities.

All the Amazon tablets come with a microSD card slot that allows users to expand the storage capacity by up to an additional 200 GB.

Battery

The Fire, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 offer up to 7 hours, 12 hours and 8 hours respectively of reading, browsing, watching videos and listening to music.

Cameras

The Fire and Fire HD 8 are equipped with a front-facing VGA camera. The rear-facing camera of the two tablets has a 2-megapixel sensor that is capable of 720p HD video recording.

Meanwhile, the Fire HD 10 comes with a 720p HD selfie camera and a 5-megapixel primary camera with 1080p HD video recording capability.

Form Factor

The Fire measures 7.5 x 4.5 x 0.4 inches, or 191 x 115 x 10.6 millimeters. The Fire HD 8 measures 8.4 x 5.0 x 0.4 inches, or 214 x 128 x 9.2 millimeters. The Fire HD 10 is the biggest of the three but is also the thinnest, measuring 10.3 x 6.3 x 0.3 inches, or 262 x 159 x 7.7 millimeters.

The Fire is the lightest tablet of the lot, weighing in at 11.0 ounces or 313 grams. The Fire HD 8 is slightly heavier at 12.0 ounces or 341 grams, while the Fire HD 10 weighs 15.2 ounces or 432 grams.

Software

The Fire, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 all run Fire OS 5 Bellini. Customers can experience the new OS across any of these three Amazon tablets but the speed may differ. Fire OS Bellini comes with a Blue Shade feature that enhances the reading experience.

"Blue Shade is an exclusive Fire OS 'Bellini' feature that works behind the scenes to automatically adjust and optimize the backlight for a more comfortable nighttime reading experience," says Amazon.

Price

The Fire, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 have a starting price tag of $49.99, $89.99 and $229.99 respectively.

Customers who own one of the tablets will get access to more than 38 million movies, TV episodes, songs, books, apps and games.

Those looking for a cheap tablet may opt for the Fire as it shares some features with the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10. Others who can spare some extra cash may opt for the Fire HD 8. Those who want to experience a bigger screen should opt for the Fire HD 10.
